The Guild's purpose is to promote
appreciation for all woodworking in Maui county, particularly work
in native Hawaiian woods; Promote environmental responsibility to
wood and its source; Promote Maui craftsmanship and encourage new
woodworking enthusiasts; Educate it's members and the public in
the craft and design skills of woodworking.
Mid-America Woodcarvers Association,
Inc., a non-profit organization, was formed to promote the
appreciation and art of woodcarving and associated crafts through
instruction, exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops. The club
was organized in 1974 with 28 charter members and was incorporated
November 15, 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska. Membership now numbers over
700.
We meet once a month at various places of
interest to woodworkers, such as cabinet shops and members shops.
Meetings consist of general business, announcements, Show and Tell,
a presentation and drawing for a door prize. Presentations are
always on a topic of interest to woodworkers and are combined with
demonstrations. Past demos have included topics such as sharpening
tools, using scroll saws, lathe turning and swap
meets.
The Minnesota Woodworkers Guild is a
group of professional and amateur woodworkers bound together by
three goals: to advocate high standards in our craft; to meet new
friends and discuss woodworking; to educate ourselves and the
public about woodworking.
We focus
on general woodworking including woodturning, scrolling, box
making, furniture, etc. Meetings feature speakers, demonstrations,
and information sharing. The club also makes toys and games for
local childrens' homes.
