Siskiyou - Founded in 1980 as a loose
knit group of woodworkers seeking to promote their craft, the Guild
has grown into a network of 60-plus members in Southern Oregon and
Northern California. These small, personal shops produce cabinets,
custom furniture, carvings, turnings, musical instruments and other
residential and architectural work. Many of the members' works
are found in top galleries, private collections and homes
throughout the world.
A place where woodworkers in any endeavor can gain information,
learn skills, exchange ideas, discuss problems and enjoy the good
fellowship associated with these goals.
We meet once a month to carve before
and after our short business meeting, our emphasis will be on
carving. A wood carving and wild life artist show is held once a
year where space can be purchased for the purpose of exhibiting,
competing with other carvers, and selling their carvings. Our
members receive a monthly newsletter about the meeting and events
that are up and coming events. The membership dues are $15.00 a
year for a family. We have a free lending library and also rent out
videos for $5.00 a month. Our membership consists of all levels of
carvers, from novice to accomplished carvers. Refreshments are
served at each meeting.
Founded on the premises of an
appreciation for the art of woodworking in all its forms. This club
is comprised of men and women who share a common interest in
increasing their knowledge of woodworking. Our guild contains three
guilds under one charter. The first group is the woodworkers guild,
focusing on flat work style craftsmanship. The second group is the
Wood turners Guild which focuses on all forms of work using a
lathe. The final group is the Woodcarvers Guild, which focuses on
inlay work, relief carving, and three dimensional carving.
